AN EPIC WEEKLONG FATHER-SON TRIP TO THE LAST FRONTIER

The Quarry Project is a transformative father-son trip in remote Alaska that will set the foundation for a friendship and brotherhood with your son that will change your family legacy.

“Listen to Me, you who pursue righteousness,
Who seek the Lord:
Look to the rock from which you were cut,
And to the quarry from which you were dug.

ISAIAH 51:1

THE SITUATION

Good, Christian fathers are crossing their fingers, sending up prayers, and hoping their sons turn out well. They earnestly want them to lead a good, wholesome, productive life aligned with biblical values. Ideally, they’re able to send their kid to a good school. Church on Sunday and maybe even youth group on Wednesdays mark the rhythms of their weeks.  Surely then, they’ll turn out better than they did. Right?

Meanwhile, the world is trying harder - unrelentingly - to initiate our sons into manhood through alcohol, money, or women.

In general, our sons never truly know when they have become a man, or perhaps even what a man truly is. A rite of passage is pivotal.

Jon Tyson defines a man as: “...an image bearer and a son of God, entrusted with power and responsibility to create, cultivate, care, and guard the life he has been given. This is for God’s glory, His joy, and the good of others.”

In the western world we have lost the tradition of rites of passages. We have lost the tradition of initiating boys into manhood.

At the Quarry Project, that's what we want to ignite and kick off in Alaska. A formative adventure, with intentional time, and a shared vision. A multigenerational vision; for lasting legacies of Christ followers; submitted and devoted men to their savior, serving and glorifying their Heavenly Father.

The details

IT ALL STARTS HERE

150 miles southwest of Anchorage on a private in holding inside of the heart of Lake Clark National Park is the base for The Quarry Project. You will travel by plane to the small village of Port Alsworth and be picked up and boated to the lodge 20 miles up lake.

The Week

Father/son will spend 7 days and 6 nights focusing on developing the bond between them, learning spiritual truths, and building manly skills. The pair will climb mountains, paddle lakes, build fires, catch fish, pitch tents, back trailers, study God’s word and invest in one-on-one time with each other. The week will culminate with an intentional fathers blessing over his son in front of the group.

THE CURRICULUM

We have partnered with Jon Tyson and his Primal Path discipleship curriculum. During the week the fathers will be lead through an intensive “boot camp” teaching that will equip them to intentionally lead their sons in the following years. The boys will likewise be introduced to the curriculum at a high level through the 5 shifts of manhood.

  1. Ease to Difficulty (Joseph’s Story)
  2. Self to Others (Moses’s Story)
  3. Whole to a Part (John the Baptist's Story)
  4. Control to Surrender (King David's Story)
  5. Temporal to Eternal (Apostle Paul's Story)

FAQ's

Why do I have to come with other dads I know?

Our goal is not to provide a mountain top experience for you and your son here in Alaska, rather a kickoff to a multi year discipling of your son. A band of brothers is crucial for this journey. You will need other men around you as you navigate his heart, you experience opposition from the enemy, and as your son looks for and needs other figures in his life to speak into him besides you. A community of men is powerful and critical for this journey. We require at least 1 other dad and son accompany you but suggest 3 or more. As the saying goes "If you want to run fast, run alone. If you want to run far, run together."
